Learning about aerospace can lead to an exciting and enjoyable career. Students will learn the history of flight and
examine the dynamics of flight and design of aircrafts. Students will be challenged to figure out a
way to survive if stranded somewhere (such as the moon). They will build their own rocket and launch
it in the spring, and these are for them to keep. The opportunities in the field of aerospace
are expansive and we want students to become aware of these opportunities and
the importance of education. There will
be many occasions for them to participate in activities and interact with guest
speakers. We will meet the third
Wednesday of each month, and our first meeting is September 21, 2016,
3:30-4:30. Students must have turned in
a permission slip in order to stay for meetings. The membership fee is $20.00 which covers a
portion of the supplies needed for activities and will include a shirt. Have fun, learn, and come “fly” with us as we
explore aerospace! The club sponsors are
Mrs. Buckner, Mrs. Cronin, Miss Valentine, and Mr. Lanagan.
Our chapter of the National Jr. Beta Club is a service club that is open to 5th
grade students. The club will begin
after the second six weeks is completed.
To be qualified, students must be working on or above grade level,
maintain honor roll status, and exhibit acceptable behavior. Dues are approximately $25.00. Meetings are usually the last Thursdays of
each month starting in January. There are a few after school projects, and it
is a great opportunity for students to gain community service. Sponsors are Mr. Allen, Mrs. Moseley, Mrs.
Roberts, Mr. Hurst, and Mrs. Baldwin.
This club meets every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3:30-5:00 beginning
Tuesday, September 6, 2016. The cost is $10.00 (non-refundable) to cover the
cost of costumes, props, materials, advertising, etc. This club promotes a
successful working relationship between parents, students, and faculty, as well
as a chance to learn how to perform in front of an audience. Club members learn about theater through
educational productions and lecture series with guest entertainers. Club sponsors provide opportunities for
artistic growth and strive to develop an appreciation for all forms of
performing arts including singing, dancing, and technical work. The Drama Club will perform “We The People”
on November 7, 2016. The club sponsors
are Mr. West, Mrs. White, Miss Duffey and Miss Davis.
Environmental Club- This club meets
the 4th Tuesday of every month from 3:15-4:30. This club is a fun
way to explore the ideas of reusing, reducing, and recycling. We will
have several guest speakers teaching us about nature, safety when hiking
and camping, planting, recycling, and reusing materials to make new items.
There is a $5.00 fee to cover the cost of materials. The club sponsors are Miss Deason, Mrs.
Ramsey, Dr. McCarter, and Miss Jones.
The mission is to promote leadership and citizenship at Sevierville
Intermediate School. Elected class representatives meet monthly at 7:30 in the

share the information from the meetings with their classmates to involve all
students in school and community service projects. Look for this to start in September. The teacher sponsors are Mrs. Richmond, Miss
Valentine, Mrs. Hodges, Miss Marlow, Mrs.Smithwick, Mrs. Rohrer, and Mrs. Chaney.

their mile time for PE. In the spring,

stopping in order to participate in this club. We will meet Tuesdays after
school from 3:15-4:15. You must provide
a copy of a current physical to participate. There is no cost for
materials. The club sponsors are Mrs.
Shanton, Mrs. Stott, and Mr. Carter. The
