Title I
Sevierville Intermediate School is a school-wide Title I School. Title I schools must comply with the qualifications of teachers and paraprofessionals as outlined in NCLB. Parents of students in Title I Schools may request information about the qualifications of teachers and paraprofessional that instruct their children. Parents of students in Title I schools will receive notification if Sevier County employs a teacher for four or more consecutive weeks that does not meet the highly qualified requirement. Our teachers are highly qualified by the State of Tennessee. By participating in the Title I Program, our school is provided with extra materials and teaching staff to ensure we meet the needs of your child. Federal funds are used to implement staff development programs that keep our teachers current in new ideas for teaching. We are provided materials and equipment to upgrade our school equipment and instructional materials. Each year our school develops an improvement plan to make our school the best it can be. Parents have the opportunity to participate in planning, reviewing of goals and suggesting improvements to our school program. You also have the right to be informed of your student's progress while attending S.I.S. We encourage your involvement in our school and hope to see you at each of the PTO programs where Title I information will be provided for you. For more information, please visit the TN Department of Education Title I Resource Page.

Please continue to save Campbell's Soup Labels.
Just place them in the labeled container between the front doors.

WORDS FROM THE LIBRARY
by Miss McCurdy
Thanks to all SIS staff, students and parents for helping to make our second BookFair this year a huge success! We were able to raise some extra funds to purchase books and supplies for the library--thanks!
We will spend the rest of the year enjoying some of the new books in the library. We may do such things as going on a lion hunt, having Animal Idol, creating new animals, visiting historical characters, and whatever else our imaginations can dream up!

Keep reading this summer!

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THIRD GRADE?
Mrs. Bryan's Class
April has been busy reviewing for TCAP and Spring Break. Now we are ready for field trips and fun!
We are also looking forward to the books that Alexa and Irfan have written in preparation for the Young Authors' Conference. Congratulations to Connor, our March Student of the Month.
Mrs. Buckner's Class
Whew! TCAPs are over! I want to thank my students for being here every day for testing and for working really hard. I also want to thank my parents for all the snacks. We had a wonderful time at Ripley's Aquarium and the Discovery Center, and look forward to our trip to Metcalf Bottoms in May. Our year together is almost over, but we still have some exciting events.
Mrs. Clark's Class
Our class has been working hard to learn as much as possible and help our "Brains to Bloom!" We visited Ripley's Aquarium and learned some new and interesting facts about sea life. We also learned all about ants with our class ant farm, and made a Glockenspiel with Mr. Graybeal. We have really enjoyed working with Mr. Graybeal. He will make a great teacher! |
 |
Mrs. Lister's Class
Hats off to the students for working so hard. We are now writing in cursive and studying our multiplication facts. We have become great readers. Our class has earned over 700 AR Points so far this year. We look forward to many great activities coming up in the month of May.

WHAT'S NEW IN FOURTH GRADE?
Mr. Cox's Brilliant Bears
The Brilliant Bears are relieved to have TCAPs over. All students worked hard and prepared well. We now look forward to closing out the year strong as we head for fifth grade. It is going to be a busy, but fun May. We recently celebrated Earth Day by helping to plant flowers at the end of the fourth grade wing. Congratulations to the following students: Brett and Jaylen on completing the material for the 4H Golden Eagle Award, Brett and Stewart on receiving 4H awards for photography, and to Jeffery for earning the Student of the Month for March. Happy Birthday to Karley 4-1, JamesRobert 4-18, Chase 4-20, Megan B. 4-26, and Taylor 5-5.

Rawlings' Rockstars
Mrs. Rawlings' Rockstars prepared diligently for TCAPS and rocked our way through them. We are ready to rock out the rest of the school year with more fun and learning to prepare for 5th grade. We are very proud of our 5th six weeks honor roll students. A honor roll-Savannah, Victoria, Alexa and Cameron, A/B honor roll- Katie, Cole, Paul, Taylor, Sierra, Nicole, and Trevor. Awesome job Rockstars! We will be going to Wonderworks on May 18th to celebrate our hard work and success.
Mrs. Richmond's Class
This has been a very busy and exciting six weeks for Mrs. Richmond's students. We dissected owl pellets to emphasize the fod chain. We prepared the ground and planted flowers for Earth Day. We completed TCAPS and celebrated by having a picnic, movie and recess!

Great Scott!
We had perfect attendance for the TCAP. We are anxious to do all the fun school activities that summer brings. We will go Sonic Bowling soon to celebrate our year's success. We are looking forward to Field Day and Farm Day. |

Mrs. Spinney's Class
On April 20th, we helped to create an outdoor classroom. We also have many field trips planned as well as Farm Day, Field Day and Career Day. We send everyone our hopes for great TCAP scores. We all know you aced them. Hey! They are over for this year!

Ms. Zamora's Class
Congratulations to honor roll recipients for the 5th 6-week grading period. "All A": Deborah; "A/B": Lacey, Elman, Tyler, Crystal, and Melody. We completed our "Power U" classes on nutrition and the students made snacks with the guidance of Chef Porter and her assistant Chefs from Walter's State Community College. The snacks were delicious and healthy, too! I am proud of the students for putting their pennies together and collecting $68.94 for Earth Day. A little change does make a difference!
