PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Sevierville Intermediate School--Building a Better Tomorrow
Communication between teachers and parents is extremely important to us. Our next parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for March 23, 2010 from 3:15 to 5:15 to address student progress, the parent-student-teacher compact, and opportunities to volunteer in upcoming school events. As always, parent/teacher conferences can be scheduled on a different day and time for your convenience.
PTO meetings occur on the first Wednesday of the month at 8:15. Remember to check out our Parent Resource Library from 8:00 to 4:00.
We welcome your input and participation.

PARENTS,
IMPORTANT! We will have TCAP testing at our school the week of April 19-23. Please make sure you do not have any vacations planned and do not schedule any appointments for your child that week. It is very important that all students are present every day during TCAP week. |

Parents,
Please be careful to observe all traffic rules when driving in the Sevierville Intermediate School zone and when driving near school bus stops in the County. This includes stopping for a stopped bus, yielding to students in crosswalks or getting in or out of a vehicle, and following all routes as indicated by signs and cones placed in the parking lot. Safety of our students is our top priority, and we appreciate your compliance. |

the more money the State of
Tennessee and our schools will receive.

Title I
Sevierville Intermediate School is a school-wide Title I School. Title I schools must comply with the qualifications of teachers and paraprofessionals as outlined in NCLB. Parents of students in Title I Schools may request information about the qualifications of teachers and paraprofessional that instruct their children. Parents of students in Title I schools will receive notification if Sevier County employs a teacher for four or more consecutive weeks that does not meet the highly qualified requirement. Our teachers are highly qualified by the State of Tennessee. By participating in the Title I Program, our school is provided with extra materials and teaching staff to ensure we meet the needs of your child. Federal funds are used to implement staff development programs that keep our teachers current in new ideas for teaching. We are provided materials and equipment to upgrade our school equipment and instructional materials. Each year our school develops an improvement plan to make our school the best it can be. Parents have the opportunity to participate in planning, reviewing of goals and suggesting improvements to our school program. You also have the right to be informed of your student's progress while attending S.I.S. We encourage your involvement in our school and hope to see you at each of the PTO programs where Title I information will be provided for you. For more information, please visit the TN Department of Education Title I Resource Page.

Mrs. Rohrer and Mrs. Clark's classes teamed up to do a solar system
project. Each 5th grader had a 3rd grader as a partner and they drew a
planet or the solar system and gave facts on their work. This was a
great time of learning and mentoring for both classes. |
